When
using Quark Xpress, make use of the "Collect For Output" feature
under the File menu. This saves a copy of your document as well as all
placed graphics or images to you destination disk or folder. This ensures
that you don't forget any graphic files that you may have used in your
document. It also creates a report that includes a list of all graphics
and fonts you used. You can refer to this report to make sure that you
have included all required fonts on the disk.

When
creating graphics in illustration applications such as Illustrator or
Freehand, be sure to turn all type into paths or outlines before saving
your EPS file. This helps to ensure that all your graphics print as you
expect them to. |
| |
Be
sure to include ALL fonts you used in your document. This includes all
Screen and Printer fonts. |
| |
Images
should be saved as CMYK Tiff files with a final size resolution of 300
ppi. Avoid enlarging photos in your layout application. This will actually
reduce the resolution of you photo, possibly causing the pixels to show
in the final output. |
| |
Use
caution when using clip-art from CD-ROMs or Microsoft applications. These
graphics are usually set up for printing proper color separations and
can cause problems when used improperly. |
| |
Before
tranferring files by e-mail or FTP, be sure to compress all of the files
into a single archive file using Stuffit on the Macintosh (.sit) or WinZip
in Windows (.zip). |
